Beam shifts to reflected light beams and their axial structure

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
The similarities and differences of spatial shifts to the centroids of reflected beams, and their (optical vortex) structure are discussed and reviewed. The differences between vortex-induced shifts to a beam centroid on reflection, and to the distribution of the vortices themselves is discussed. We conclude by discussing the shifts of a reflected beam

Beam-Plasma Structures at Propagation of Electron Beams in Plasma

Physica Scripta, 1998
In the frame of the theory of weak turbulence the propagation of electron beams is considered. Using the smallness of quasilinear time transition from kinetic equations to gas-dynamic ones has been done. The obtained gas-dynamic equations are solved for one, two and N monoenergetic beams. It is shown that each beam generally propagates as a beam-plasma

Vibration of Beam Structures

1991
We treat the dynamics of beams in a manner similar to that for rods. The sequence of analysis followed is: derive the governing differential equations, use spectral analysis to obtain general solutions, obtain an exact matrix formulation, obtain an approximate matrix formulation.

Fault identification in beam structures

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1992
Abstract A methodology based on the measurements of the natural frequencies of the structural system is developed for identification of the magnitude and location of the material defects and/or cracks. The numerical procedure is based on the matrix-transfer technique in which the dynamic characteristics of the system are related from one end to the ...

Structured beams in laser refractography [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Communications Technology and Electronics, 2009
The main types of structured laser beams obtained using diffractive optical elements are presented. A new information and measuring technique—the laser refractography based on the application of structured radiation—is proposed for the quantitative diagnostics of inhomogeneous media.

Dealing with beam structure in PIXIE

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Measuring the B-mode polarization of the CMB radiation requires a detailed understanding of the projection of the detector onto the sky. We show how the combination of scan strategy and processing generates a cylindrical beam for the spectrum measurement.

On the structural dynamics of a Vlasov beam

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1983
A thin-walled beam (such as the hull of a ship) may be represented as a non-uniform Vlasov beam. Such a beam may execute coupled lateral bending and twisting vibration, the nature of which is examined. Orthogonality relations are derived for a uniform Vlasov beam, which are easily adapted to a non-uniform beam that is treated as piecewise uniform ...

Structurally Stable Hyperbolic Beam

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2009
A technique for generation of a structurally stable hyperbolic beam using Fourier transform holography is reported. Bessel function with their arguments having hyperbolic locus is used for generating a diffractive optical element (DOE). For the introduction of optical vortex a circular vortex term is used.

Beam structure studies of low-energy ion beams

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1991
Abstract The ion beam structure at various axial positions along the beam-transport line has been monitored and studied utilizing a fluor screen and a video camera. The fluor material is aluminum oxide that is plasma-jet sprayed onto the surface of an aluminum or a water-cooled copper substrate.

Optimization of Structural Concrete Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984
A computer approach to the optimal design of structural concrete beams is presented. The approach allows the optimization for a variety of possible merit functions, considers all relevant limit state constraints by any standard code (as well as other desirable engineering and construction requirements) and is valid for reinforced, prestressed and ...
