Structurally Stable Hyperbolic Beam

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2009
A technique for generation of a structurally stable hyperbolic beam using Fourier transform holography is reported. Bessel function with their arguments having hyperbolic locus is used for generating a diffractive optical element (DOE). For the introduction of optical vortex a circular vortex term is used.

Optimization of Structural Concrete Beams

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984
A computer approach to the optimal design of structural concrete beams is presented. The approach allows the optimization for a variety of possible merit functions, considers all relevant limit state constraints by any standard code (as well as other desirable engineering and construction requirements) and is valid for reinforced, prestressed and ...

Beam structure studies of low-energy ion beams

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1991
Abstract The ion beam structure at various axial positions along the beam-transport line has been monitored and studied utilizing a fluor screen and a video camera. The fluor material is aluminum oxide that is plasma-jet sprayed onto the surface of an aluminum or a water-cooled copper substrate.

Structural optimization using beam elements

AIAA Journal, 1988
Techniques for handling beam elements in structural optimization are investigated. The complexities of evaluating the geometrical properties of a section, stress recovery, and design-variable selection are successfully handled by the concept of an element library, use of equivalent stress, and separation of sensitivity variables and design variables ...

Beam formation in anisotropic structures

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1972
A localized source radiating in anisotropic environment with directionally dependent attenuation produces a beam. The direction and width of this beam are calculated asymptotically.

Equivalent beam analysis of thin-walled beam structures

Computers & Structures, 1987
Abstract In the analysis of thin-walled beam structures it is often necessary to consider the effects of warping restraint in addition to the more usual actions of pure torsion, bending moment and axial force. Out-of-plane warping occurs as a result of twisting about the horizontal axis and, if restrained, may result in the development of large ...
