Buckling of Planar Micro-Structured Beams [PDF]
In this paper, a Timoshenko beam model is formulated for buckling analysis of periodic micro-structured beams, uniformly compressed. These are planar grid beams, whose micro-structure consists of a square lattice of equal fibers, modeled as Timoshenko micro-beams.

Numerical Analysis of a New Block-Type Rail Bearing Beam for the Mid-Low-Speed Maglev Train
In this study, a new block-type rail bearing beam is presented, which consists of a cast-in-place base and prefabricated blocks. The finite element analysis is conducted to assess the proposed new rail bearing beam structure. The performed finite element

Effects of Structural Parameters on the Dynamics of a Beam Structure with a Beam-Type Vibration Absorber [PDF]
A beam-type absorber has been known as one of the dynamic vibration absorbers used to suppress excessive vibration of an engineering structure. This paper studies an absorbing beam which is attached through a visco-elastic layer on a primary beam structure.

Free space optical system performance for a Gaussian beam propagating through non Kolmogorov weak turbulence [PDF]
Atmospheric turbulence has been described for many years by Kolmogorov's power spectral density model because of its simplicity. Unfortunately several experiments have been reported recently that show Kolmogorov theory is sometimes incomplete to describe

Shadows of structured beams in lenslike media
The self-healing phenomenon of structured light beams has been comprehensively investigated for its important role in various applications including optical tweezing, superresolution imaging, and optical communication. However, for different structured beams, there are different explanations for the self-healing effect, and a unified theory has not yet
