Beam wander of a partially coherent Airy beam in oceanic turbulence

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2018
The beam wander of a partially coherent Airy beam in oceanic turbulence is investigated with the help of the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral formula. Analytical expression for the second-order moment and the beam wander of a partially coherent Airy beam propagating in oceanic turbulence is derived.

Beam wander of partially coherent array beams through non-Kolmogorov turbulence

Optics Letters, 2015
Based on the theory of second moments and non-Kolmogorov spectrum, the beam wander theory is extend to non-Kolmogorov turbulence, the general analytical expression of beam wander in non-Kolmogorov turbulence is derived. Beam wander depends on the non-Kolmogorov turbulence parameters and the initial second moments of the laser beam at the input plane ...

Beam wander of dark hollow, flat-topped and annular beams

Applied Physics B, 2008
Benefiting from the earlier derivations for the Gaussian beam, we formulate beam wander for dark hollow (DH) and flat-topped (FT) beams, also covering the annular Gaussian (AG) beam as a special case. Via graphical illustrations, beam wander variations of these beams are analyzed and compared among themselves and to the fundamental Gaussian beam ...

Beam wander of a collimated beam: comparing theory and experiment

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
In this paper we present experimental beam wander measurements and compare them with theory developed from the Kolmogorov model for the atmosphere. Data from a collimated beam over a 1km horizontal terrestrial path were recorded with a high-speed camera.

Gaussian-beam wander characteristic of horizon propagation

2011 IEEE International Conference on Microwave Technology & Computational Electromagnetics, 2011
A model of the modified Rytov method is derived based on the wander in the original theory, this method takes into account the outer scale and the impact of multiple scattering on the wander, wander formula for certain improvements, and more with the experimental data. Analysis all kinds of factors of the wander variance.

Beam wander of electromagnetic Gaussian–Schell model beams propagating in atmospheric turbulence

Applied Optics, 2012
The general model of beam wander for a coherent Gaussian beam propagating through atmospheric turbulence is extended to the case of a partially polarized electromagnetic Gaussian-Schell model (EGSM) beam. The expression of the beam wander is obtained by characterizing the EGSM beam with the effective beam parameters.

Wander of an optical beam in the turbulent atmosphere

Applied Optics, 1990
A simple, analytic, geometrical optics expression for the variance of the beam displacements caused by propagation through weak refractive turbulence described by the Kolmogorov spectrum is presented. The analytical formula includes the effect of the divergence or convergence of the initial beam.

Beam wander of partially coherent twisted elliptical vortex beam in turbulence

Optik, 2020
Abstract Based on the generalized Huygens–Fresnel theorem, the characteristics of beam wander in partially coherent elliptical vortex beams in anisotropic non-Kolmogorov turbulence are studied. Considering not only the vortex phase but also the twisted phase modulation in the partially coherent beams, the study of twisted phase modulation is carried ...

Beam wander effects on the scintillation index of a focused beam

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
First-order weak-fluctuation Rytov theory predicts that the longitudinal (on-axis) scintillation component of an untracked focused beam projected along a horizontal path will become significantly smaller as the size of the transmitter aperture increases.

Spectrum of the beam wandering noise

2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2010
Phenomenon of the atmospheric turbulence is well-known from the optical communication systems. In communication systems, only influence of the turbulent flow on the transmitter plane wave affects the beam. In the rangefinder system, influence on the reflected spherical wave and reflecting surface changes caused by the beam wandering phenomenon are ...
