Merging beam-beam interaction [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1999 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.99CH36366), 2003
A new type of particle collisions is considered. In merging collisions two comoving beams intersect each other at small angle to provide low collision energy required for nuclear fusion experiments. An expression for luminosity is obtained. It is shown that luminosity has a maximum value depending on particle velocity.

Controlled generation of higher-order Poincaré sphere beams from a laser [PDF]

open access: yesNature Photonics, 2015
The angular momentum of light can be described by positions on a higher-order Poincaré sphere, where superpositions of spin and orbital angular momentum states give rise to laser beams that have many applications, from microscopy to materials processing.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Extreme shape coexistence observed in 70Co

open access: yesCommunications Physics
The shape of the atomic nucleus is a property that underpins our understanding of nuclear systems, impacts the limits of nuclear existence, and enables probes of physics beyond the Standard Model.

Flexural ductility of lightweight-aggregate concrete beams

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2016
This paper describes an experimental study on the flexural ductility of lightweight-aggregate concrete beams including concretes with compressive strengths between 22.0 and 60.4 MPa and dry densities between 1651 and 1953 kg/m3.

Radiotherapy Delivery in Deep Inspiration for Pediatric Patients—Final Results of the Phase II Feasibility Study TEDDI

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The TEDDI trial tested the feasibility and reproducibility of deep‐inspiration breath‐hold (DIBH) in pediatric patients referred for radiotherapy. This report presents final results, including patient‐reported outcomes (PRO) and dosimetric comparison of DIBH and free‐breathing (FB).

Plastic rotation capacity of lightweight-aggregate concrete beams

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2016
This article describes a study on the plastic behaviour of lightweight-aggregate concrete beams. The experimental results of nineteen simply supported beams previously tested by the authors were used in this study.

Low-dimensional non-metal catalysts: principles for regulating p-orbital-dominated reactivity

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2021
Activation of p-block elements to replace the rare and precious transition metals for renewable energy applications is highly desirable. In this review, we go over recent experimental and theoretical progress on the low-dimensional non-metal materials ...

Biomechanical Analysis of the Use of Stems in Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesBioengineering, 2022
Adequate fixation is fundamental in revision total knee arthroplasty; consequently, surgeons must determine the correct set-up for each patient, choosing from numerous stem solutions.

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.
