Study of the full electric dipole strength of the double halo nucleus 11Li using proton inelastic scattering [PDF]
This study focuses on the electric dipole (E1) response of the double neutron halo nucleus 11Li. This response is composed of the lower energy Pygmy Dipole Resonance (PDR) and the higher energy electric Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR).

Beam-beam effects in RHIC [PDF]
In this article we review the beam-beam effects in the polarized proton runs in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The operational observations, limitations, and the next luminosity goal are presented and discussed. With an upgraded polarized proton source, the proton bunch intensity will be increased from 1.7 × 10 up to 3.0 × 10.

On the Detection of Fracture within Vibrating Beams Traversed by a Moving Force
In this work, we examine the influence of a crack in the span of a beam as it is being traversed by a point force with constant velocity. This problem presents two types of discontinuities: one spatial, where the crack is modelled as a discontinuity in ...

A unified approach for beam-to-beam contact [PDF]
Existing beam contact formulations can be categorized in point contact models that consider a discrete contact force at the closest point of the beams, and line contact models that assume distributed contact forces. In this work, it will be shown that line contact formulations provide accurate and robust mechanical models in the range of small contact ...

SHEAR CAPACITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS WITHOUT SHEAR REINFORCEMENT: A REVIEW
Shear failure in reinforced concrete beams has gained excessive study, particularly beams without stirrups. Because shear failure is considered the most serious due to it occurring suddenly without warning.

Flexural-torsional behavior of thin-walled closed-section composite box beams [PDF]
This paper presents a flexural–torsional analysis of composite box beams. A general analytical model applicable to thin-walled box section composite beams subjected to vertical and torsional load is developed.
