Failure Analysis of Engine Bearing
Key Engineering Materials, 2012An engine bearing was failed during service. During inspection, ball and races of rear bearing were found with wear marks. The bearing was subjected to metallurgical failure analysis. Inclusion level in the balls of bearing was observed higher; these inclusions were rich in Mo and V.

Aircraft Bearings Fracture Failure Analysis
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Between aircraft bearings lugs, plates fracture appeared. The failure mode and cause were analyzed by macro and micro observation, EDS analysis, metallographic examination and hardness testing. The results showed that two bearings’ failure were stress corrosion cracking.

Scientific Lubrication, 1949
The frequent use of copper-lead and cadmium alloy bearings for heavy duty diesel engine use has brought about a number of problems and a lot of troubles that occur with these bearings are frequently blamed on to the lubricating oil. The difficulty of differentiating between failures caused by fatigue and corrosion is a real one and quite apart from ...

Abstract A mechanical part, which supports the moving part, is termed a mechanical bearing and can be classified into rolling (ball or roller) bearings and sliding bearings. This article discusses the failures of sliding bearings. It first describes the geometry of sliding bearings, next provides an overview of bearing materials, and ...

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1967
A PAPER by A. Rose, B.Sc., C.Eng., A.M.R.I.N.A., A.M.I.Mar.E. (Michell Bearings Ltd.) read to The Institute of Marine Engineers in London on 24th January, emphasised that reliability is the all‐important factor in the design of marine bearings and, because of this, design methods tend to be conservative.
