Failures in plastic ball bearings

Wear, 1979
Abstract Failures of bearings having plastic inner and outer rings and steel balls were investigated and classified in four different modes: (1) wear, (2) surface fatigue, (3) plastic flow and (4) associated failures.

Failure mechanisms in motor bearings

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2005
Abstract Defective bearings of a motor were investigated for possible mechanisms leading to their premature failure during manufacturing. Detailed studies including visual examination, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were performed to determine the root cause(s) for failure.

Failures with Bearings

2005
Despite the long-term clinical and radiographic success that has been reported with total knee arthroplasty (TKA), failures related to the articular bearing surface continue to be one of the most significant factors that limit survivorship of TKA implants.

Catastrophic failure of biconcave unicompartmental polyethylene bearings

The Knee, 2020
A biconcave polyethylene (PE) bearing was developed for mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasties (UKA) to reduce PE dislocation.A modification of the BalanSys Unicompartmental knee system with a biconcave PE and convex tibial component was used in 32 prostheses in 28 patients.

Bearing failures diagnosis and investigation

Wear, 1973
Abstract Successful failure investigation enables satisfactory remedial measures to be effected and can lead to improved design embodying greater reliability. As technological progress advances, bearing failure mechanisms are becoming increasingly complex and it is not always possible to give reliable on site diagnoses. A full investigation using all

Failures of automobile plain bearings

Wear, 1969
If plain bearings are properly designed and applied they fretion of a completely mutilated bearing. However adjacent quently outlive other engine components. In spite of their bearings that are not so completely failed may give a visual ability to withstand abuse premature failure can occur and to clue.

Bearing Cage Dynamics: Cage Failure and Bearing Life Estimation

Nowadays, given the widespread use of rolling bearings in mechanical applications, an important topic is investigate which parameters influence their wear in order to estimate the real bearing life. The cage is one of the critical element in the bearing, its dynamics is complex and nonlinear due to the intermittent contacts with various elements (e.g ...

Failure tolerance of load-bearing hierarchical networks

Physical Review E, 2011
We investigate the statistics and dynamics of failure in a two-dimensional load-bearing network with branching hierarchical structure, and its variants. The variants strengthen the original lattice by using connectivity strategies which add new sites to the maximal cluster in top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top versions.

Bearing Failure Investigation of Turbomachinery Test Rig

ASME 2013 Gas Turbine India Conference, 2013
This paper presents the investigation of bearing failure in a compressor test rig which has been satisfactorily in operation. Two pair of single row angular contact ball bearings, each pair in tandem, and the pairs in turn in back to back support the rotor shaft to meet compressor thrust and to provide moderate stiffness for smooth operation.

Million Mile Bearings: Lessons From Diesel Engine Bearing Failure Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Bearing capability of one million miles has been demonstrated in line-haul truck operations with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and Mack Truck engines. Bearing failure analysis helped to define the requirements for long service bearings, in terms of the appropriate oil and bearing quality, and proper ...
