Magnetic bearing as Switched Reluctance Motor - feasibility study for bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor

2013 International Electric Machines & Drives Conference, 2013
This paper shows a general review of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM), reports the conversion of Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) to SRM and discusses methods to estimate the torque produced in SRM. AMB converted to SRM has been tested on a laboratory scale test rig and its torque production measured.

A novel bearingless switched reluctance motor

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2012
PurposeThis paper seeks to propose a novel bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM).Design/methodology/approachThe operating principle and structure characteristics of the proposed three‐phase 12/8‐pole BSRM is analyzed in detail. Finite element method‐based calculations are applied to a prototype and some important characteristics are obtained ...

Optimal design of a bearingless switched reluctance motor

2009 International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices, 2009
This paper presents a method of optimizing number of turns of the main and radial force winding for a bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) with 12/8 teeth configuration based on its mathematical model. The radial force and torque of BSRM are analyzed on condition of different combinations of the magnetomotive force of two kinds of windings. The

Stator Vibration Analysis of Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motors

2010 International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, 2010
Radial magnetic force acts on the motor stator cause large vibration and acoustic noise, that have limit the application of switched reluctance motors (SRMs). They can be aggravated when there is unbalanced force due to rotor eccentricity. This paper analyzed the function of bearingless technique in compensating the unbalanced magnetic attraction force;

A Control Strategy for Bearingless Switched-Reluctance Motors

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2010
A bearingless switched-reluctance motor (BSRM) has a complicated nonlinear character; therefore, its control strategy is very important to a stable operation. This paper presents a new control strategy for rotating and levitating a 12/8 BSRM with two sets of windings.

Levitation performance analysis for bearingless switched reluctance motor

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
The performance of a bearingless motor is determined by the levitation characteristic. This paper shows the levitation performance analysis of a kind of bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM), which separate the levitation control from the torque control. Firstly, the structure and operation principle of the BLSRM are introduced briefly.

Vibration control strategy for bearingless switched reluctance motors

2014 17th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2014
This paper presents a fundamental control method to decrease stator vibration of the 12/8 bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) at the commutation point of the phase current. It states the control basis, and deduces the motor control parameters such as the main winding current, suspension winding current, turn-on angle and turn-off angle etc. In

Modeling and Axial Reluctance Force Analysis of Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor

2020 International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2020
Axial force is the factor that influences the machine performance of rotation and levitation. This paper presents modeling and analysis of bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM). Firstly, the mathematical model is derived by using the magnetic circuit method.

Improved analysis of a bearingless switched reluctance motor

IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference. IEMDC'99. Proceedings (Cat. No.99EX272), 2001
Bearingless switched reluctance motors, which can control rotor radial positions with magnetic force, have been proposed. Bearingless switched reluctance motors have combined characteristics of switched reluctance motors and magnetic bearings. Production of radial force for rotor shaft magnetic suspension is explained with differential stator windings.

Levitation control of an improved modular bearingless switched reluctance motor

ISA Transactions, 2018
In order to reduce coupling between torque and suspending force in conventional bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM), one 12/12 hybrid-stator-pole structure BLSRM was investigated. In this structure, motor consists of two single phase motor.
