A Novel Sensorless Approach for Speed and Displacement Control of Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The bearingless concept is a plausible alternative to the magnetic bearing drives. It provides numerous advantages like minimal maintenance, low cost, compactness and no requirement of high-performance power amplifiers. Controlling the rotor position and

Decoupling Control for Dual‐Winding Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor Based on Improved Inverse System Method [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Dual‐winding bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) is a multivariable high‐nonlinear system characterized by strong coupling, and it is not completely reversible. In this paper, a new decoupling control strategy based on improved inverse system method is proposed.

Super‐spiral sliding mode controller design for single‐winding bearingless switched reluctance motor

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 16, Issue 12, Page 1492-1501, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The strong coupling effect between the torque system and the suspension system of the single‐winding bearingless switched reluctance motor (SWBSRM) would result in continuous interference to the system and bring difficulties to the design of the control system.

Mathematical modelling and control of bearingless brushless direct current machine with motor and generator double modes for flywheel battery

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 15, Issue 13, Page 1249-1263, 14 October 2022., 2022
Abstract The performance of flywheel battery is affected by the vibration and friction of traditional mechanical bearing. A novel kind of bearingless brushless direct current machine (BBLDCM) with the hybrid capabilities of electrical machine and suspension is suitable for flywheel battery which reduces the losses and improves the power quality.

Design and analysis of double 6/3 transverse flux bearingless switched reluctance motor

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 58, Issue 15, Page 573-575, July 2022., 2022
Abstract A novel dual 6/3 Transverse Flux Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor is proposed to solve the coupling problem between torque and suspension of conventional Switched Reluctance Motor. The working principle is introduced in detail, the motor is modelled by ANSYS, and the accurate mathematical model of the suspension force is deduced and ...

A 5‐degrees of freedom hybrid excitation bearingless motor for vehicle flywheel battery

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 57, Issue 24, Page 909-911, November 2021., 2021
Abstract To deal with the restriction of vehicle space on a flywheel battery, a 5‐degrees of freedom (DOF) hybrid excitation bearingless motor (HEBM) was proposed. The 5‐DOF suspension force required for the flywheel battery is provided by HEBM. The use of a permanent magnet to provide a suspension bias magnetic field reduces power consumption.

Design and analysis of a high‐integration and low‐loss bearingless flywheel motor in vehicle

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 57, Issue 10, Page 390-392, May 2021., 2021
Abstract This study investigates an outer rotor bearingless flywheel motor for flywheel batteries in vehicle that exhibits the advantages of high integration and low loss due to outer rotor direct‐drive and bearingless technologies. A hybrid excitation outer rotor bearingless flywheel motor with four‐degrees‐of‐freedom radial suspension and permanent ...

Torque analytical model and self‐decoupling characteristics analysis of a bearingless switched reluctance motor

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 1149-1156, 6 May 2021., 2021
Abstract In this paper, a bearingless switched reluctance motor (BRSM) with sharing suspension windings, which simplifies the winding structure and reduces the complexity of the control circuit, is analysed. A torque analytical model is derived using the Maxwell stress tensor method, which provides better results, compared with the linear model in the ...

A dual‐phase‐conducted type bearingless switched reluctance flywheel motor with hybrid outer rotor

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 57, Issue 9, Page 354-356, April 2021., 2021
Abstract A novel dual‐phase‐conducted type bearingless switched reluctance flywheel motor is proposed, which has a hybrid outer rotor comprising circular segment and scalloped lamination segment, and only one set of winding is placed on each stator pole.
