Ultrasound in Women's Health: Mechanisms, Applications, and Emerging Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As healthcare moves toward decentralization, ultrasound technologies are evolving from strictly imaging tools in clinical settings into versatile diagnostic and therapeutic platforms, with growing roles addressing women's health needs. This review highlights how ultrasound's underlying physical mechanisms can be harnessed to reduce disparities in women'

Cross-Cultural Influences on Rhythm Processing: Reproduction, Discrimination, and Beat Tapping

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
The structures of musical rhythm differ between cultures, despite the fact that the ability to synchronize one’s movements to musical rhythms appears to be universal.

Recent Progress on Flexible Multimodal Sensors: Decoupling Strategies, Fabrication and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this review, we establish a tripartite decoupling framework for flexible multimodal sensors, which elucidates the underlying principles of signal crosstalk and their solutions through material design, structural engineering, and AI algorithms. We also demonstrate its potential applications across environmental monitoring, health monitoring, human ...

Neural Entrainment and Sensorimotor Synchronization to the Beat in Children with Developmental Dyslexia: An EEG Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2017
Tapping in time to a metronome beat (hereafter beat synchronization) shows considerable variability in child populations, and individual differences in beat synchronization are reliably related to reading development. Children with developmental dyslexia

The Vegan Villain Sets Out to The End of Summer: Functionalized Coatings as Biohybrid UV‐Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study introduces biohybrid coatings incorporating E. coli biomass expressing photoconvertible fluorescent proteins as UV‐A responsive elements. Upon irradiation at 400 nm, the coatings exhibit an irreversible fluorescence shift from green to red within 15 min. Notably, the photoconversion capability is retained after >1 year of storage.

Finger-to-beat coordination skill of non-dancers, street dancers, and the world champion of a street-dance competition

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
The coordination of body movements to a musical beat is a common feature of many dance styles. However, the auditory-motor coordination skills of dancers remain largely uninvestigated.

Electronic Dance Music in Narrative Film [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As a growing number of filmmakers are moving away from the traditional model of orchestral underscoring in favor of a more contemporary approach to film sound, electronic dance music (EDM) is playing an increasingly important role in current soundtrack ...

Low‐Strain Flexible Ink‐Based Sensors Enable Hyperelastic Inflation Perception Via Geometric Patterning for Balloon‐Type Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Integrating proprioceptive capabilities in balloon‐type robots enhances safe human–machine interactions. Traditional pressure estimates are inadequate due to nonlinear relationships. Instead, embedding stretchable sensors effectively measures deformation. This design optimizes sensor geometry to minimize damage risks.
