Studying the role of dystrophin-associated proteins in influencing Becker muscular dystrophy disease severity

Neuromuscular Disorders, 2015
Becker muscular dystrophy is characterized by a variable disease course. Many factors have been implicated to contribute to this diversity, among which the expression of several components of the dystrophin associated glycoprotein complex. Together with dystrophin, most of these proteins anchor the muscle fiber cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix,

Early myocardial disease and cramping myalgia in Becker‐type muscular dystrophy

Neurology, 1979
We present a clinical and morphological study concerning a kindred with slowly progressive X-linked muscular dystrophy (Becker type). Five males were affected; one died of heart failure at age 16. Severe and early cardiac disorder is unusual in this type of muscular dystrophy, and death at such an early age had not been reported previously.
