Development of a Synthetic Hydrogel to Foster Microvascularization of an Endometriosis Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ascent of novel alternative methods in drug development spotlights the dual needs for improved biological fidelity to in vivo, along with reproducibility, especially in regulatory applications. The need for pre‐clinical models of patient‐derived endometriosis lesions motivates the development of a vascularizable, completely synthetic ...

Fractional transport of bed-material load in sand-bed channels

open access: yes, 1999
This dissertation presents a new method for predicting fractional transport rates of bedmaterial load in sand-bed channels. The proposed method is developed based on the concept of the transport capacity fraction (TCF) approach. The bed-material concentration for a given size fraction is obtained by weighting the bed-material concentration, C1, with a ...

Morphologische Entwicklung des Ucayali in Peru ohne menschliche Einflüsse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Ucayali River originates in the high Andean Mountains near the city of Cusco in Peru. After about 1,600 km, it joins with the Marañón River. Both the Ucayali River and the Marañón River are sources of the Amazon.

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

On the effect of segregation on intense bimodal bed load

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
Open-channel two-phase flow above a granular mobile bed is studied experimentally and theoretically. In the two-phase flow, water serves as a carrying liquid for plastic grains transported as collisional contact load in the upper-stage plane bed regime ...

Evaluation of the utility of sediment data in NASQAN (National Stream Quality Accounting Network) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Monthly suspended sediment discharge measurements, made by the USGS as part of the National Stream Quality Accounting Network (NASQAN), are analysed to assess the adequacy in terms of spatial coverage, temporal sampling frequency, accuracy of ...

Thermo‐Fluorescent Bactericidal Quantum Dots Based Smart Multifunctional Textiles via Molecular Surface Engineering and 3D‐Printed Interlocked Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A versatile approach is presented for fabricating smart multifunctional textiles by integrating thermo‐fluorescent carbon dot/polymer nanocomposite coatings with 3D‐printed interlocked architectures. The fabrics exhibit temperature‐responsive fluorescence, durable hydrophobicity, strong antibacterial and antioxidant activity, and enhanced UV protection.

Revision and Application of Turbulence-Based Model for Bed-Load Transport in Open-Channel Flows Containing Submerged Vegetation

open access: yes工程科学与技术
The calculation of the bed-load transport rate in open-channel flows was currently modeled on the flat bare-bed shear stress (without vegetation cover) as a basis for characterizing the flow intensity.

A Novel Laboratory Technique for Measuring Grain‐Size‐Specific Transport Characteristics of Bed Load Pulses

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Although several laboratory studies on the propagation of bed load pulses were carried out in the last decades, most studies neglect grain‐size‐specific aspects or use invasive measurement techniques.
