From dawn to dusk: a temporal model of caregiving: adult carers of frail parents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Caregiving is not a short term commitment. Of the estimated 6 million carers in the UK, almost a third of co-resident carers have been caring for at least 10 years (Rowland and Parker 1998).

The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

Pressure Sore at an Unusual Site- the Bilateral Popliteal Fossa: A Case report

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2012
Pressure sore is tissue ulceration due to unrelieved pressure, altered sensory perception, and exposure to moisture. Geriatric patients with organic problems and patients with spinal cord injuries are the high-risk groups.

TTNPB Promotes Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐to‐Neural Stem Cell Transition via Modulation of Chromatin Accessibility and the S‐(5′‐adenosyl)‐L‐homocysteine/Choline Metabolic Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A retinoic acid receptor agonist, TTNPB, drives the efficient generation of advanced neural stem cells (ANSCs) from human pluripotent stem cells. TTNPB‐centered chromatin remodeling and metabolic reprogramming, promote neuroectoderm commitment. The resulting cells show robust neural potential and functional efficacy in a rat depression model.

De Novo Multi‐Mechanism Antimicrobial Peptide Design via Multimodal Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current AI‐driven peptide discovery often overlooks complex structural data. This study presents M3‐CAD, a generative pipeline that leverages 3D voxel coloring and a massive database of over 12 000 peptides to capture nuanced physicochemical contexts.

Developmentally Inspired, Mechanical–Metabolic Dual Gradient Osteochondral Constructs Bridging Regeneration and Therapeutic Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A developmentally inspired osteochondral construct integrates mechanical and metabolic dual gradients within a 3D‐printed platform. Human MSC spheroids are spatially directed to form cartilage–bone interfaces, enabling evaluation of regeneration without biochemical reagents and assessment of drug responses. This physiologically relevant, phase‐specific

Characterizing Transgender Health Issues in Twitter

open access: yes, 2018
Although there are millions of transgender people in the world, a lack of information exists about their health issues. This issue has consequences for the medical field, which only has a nascent understanding of how to identify and meet this population ...
