Secondary production of an intertidal mussel bed community related to its storage and turnover compartments

open access: yesMarine Ecology Progress Series, 1987
Macrofaunal b ~ o n ~ a s s and production were studied at 6 sites on an intertidal mussel bed in the northern Wadden Sea near the island of Sylt (North Sea) in 1984 Mean biornass of the community was about 25 times h ~ g h e r (1243 g AFDW m-') than in other commumties of the Wadden Sea Of t h s biomass, 97 % was represented by the mussel Myt~ lus e d

Support‐Driven Hydrogen Migration Enhances Ammonia Decomposition in Direct Ammonia Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Enhanced hydrogen species migration enabled by FN/BZY catalyst mitigates intermediate accumulation and improves DA‐PCFC performance during ammonia decomposition. Ammonia, with its high hydrogen density and carbon‐free nature, serves as ideal fuel for direct ammonia protonic ceramic fuel cells (DA‐PCFCs).

Exercise‐specific plasma proteomic signatures in racehorses: Candidates for training adaptation and peak load monitoring

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Racehorses undergo profound physiological changes with training and competition, but current biomarkers inadequately capture the complex molecular dynamics of exercise. This study aimed to identify novel plasma biomarkers of training adaptation and peak load using high‐throughput proteomics.

The role of pumping and turnover in controlling microplastics entrapment and release in sand-bed rivers

open access: yesScience of The Total Environment
: The dynamic interaction between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems through streams and rivers plays a crucial role in the transport and transformation of passive and reactive solutes, including nutrients and Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs). Among these, microplastics (MP) have received increasing attention due to their toxicity and possible ...

The Effects of Twelve Weeks of Bed Rest on Bone Histology, Biochemical Markers of Bone Turnover, and Calcium Homeostasis in Eleven Normal Subjects

open access: yesJournal of Bone and Mineral Research, 1998
Abstract This study was undertaken to examine the effects of 12 weeks of skeletal unloading on parameters of calcium homeostasis, calcitropic hormones, bone histology, and biochemical markers of bone turnover in 11 normal subjects (9 men, 2 women; 34 ± 11 years of age).

Transcriptomic signatures reveal systemic adaptations and immune modulation in response to training and competitive racing in horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The molecular mechanisms underlying adaptation to physical exertion and racing stress in horses remain incompletely understood. Peripheral blood transcriptomics offers a minimally invasive method to monitor systemic responses to exercise and identify biomarkers of adaptation or overload. Objectives To evaluate transcriptomic changes

Rational design of Ni‐based catalysts for methane dry reforming: Recent advances and future perspectives

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Addressing the challenges inherent in dry reforming of methane (DRM), this paper focuses on the structural design and performance optimization of Ni‐based catalysts. The modulation strategies for DRM are systematically reviewed across four dimensions: the micromorphology of active metals, metal‐support interactions, electronic modifications by ...

Assessing Tehran University of Medical Sciences Hospitals Performance by the Pabon Lasso Model

open access: yesپیاورد سلامت, 2016
Background & Aim: One of the most important and useful models for assessing hospital performance is the Pabon Lasso Model, a graphical model that determines the relative performance of hospitals using three indicators: 1. Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR); 2. Bed

Measurements of short-term turnover of epifauna within seagrass beds using an in situ staining method

open access: yesMarine Ecology Progress Series, 1985
