Effects of CaCl2 solutions to alleviate drought stress effects in potted ornamentals Salvia splendens and Ageratum houstonianum

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2016
Bedding plants are often subjected to soil water deficit – either after planting and/or during the market chain. Methods to alleviate the negative water stress effects are sought for to preserve ornamental values of plants.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Charcoal Bedding as a Tool for Stratigraphic Interpretation

open access: yes, 2020
Observations of modern charcoal and sediments at forest fire sites and offossil charcoal in the Dakota Formation suggest that the bedding of the charcoal can be an indicator of the speed of the deposition processes.

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Growth of lettuce cultivars in beds covered with differing materials

open access: yesAgro@mbiente On-line, 2019
In commercial lettuce growing, the intensive cultivation of the soil results in an increase in weed populations, making it difficult to fully exploit the area and increasing production costs.

Productivity‐Driven Optimization of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Parameters for IN718 Superalloy: Process Control, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Trichoderma atroviride Enhances Impatiens walleriana Hook. f Growth and Flowering in Different Growing Media

open access: yesPlants
Trichoderma spp. are widely reported to regulate plant growth by improving nutrient uptake, photosynthesis, and abiotic stress tolerance. However, their possible application for bedding plants is little explored, especially when comparing different ...

A biotic strategy to sequester carbon in the ornamental containerized bedding plant production: A review

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2018
Identifying options of climate change mitigation is of global interest to researchers. Whereas wide range of techniques of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and carbon sequestration have been studied in row crops and forest systems, little research

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
