Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

ZEOLITE AS A COMPONENT OF SUBSTRATE IN CULTIVATION OF ORNAMENTAL PLANTS – Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don AND Gazania rigens var. rigens (L.) Gaertn.

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2016
In Poland, zeolites are relatively rare substrates. These are natural aluminosilicate minerals with excellent sorptive and iron exchange properties. Mixing substrates with zeolite improved the physical and chemical properties of the media such as total ...

Summer bedding plants

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Heterogeneous response of two bedding plants to peat substitution by two green composts

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2018
The promotion, at local level, of resource recycling chains, with low environmental impact and costs, appears of great interest for the production of green composts to replace peat in ornamental crops.

Growth control of ornamental and bedding plants by manipulation of photoperiod and light quality

open access: yes, 2016
Altering the light regime is a sound and non-polluting way of controlling the growth of greenhouse-grown pot and bedding plants, and a promising way of eliminating the use of chemical plant growth regulators (PGRs), which are now becoming less available ...
