Cucurbits are important crops in the world. However, leaf curl disease constrains their production. Here, begomovirus diversity and pathogenicity associated with the disease in Malaysia were studied based on 49 begomovirus-detected out of 69 symptomatic ...

Plant species hosts of begomovirus obtained from tomato in Goiás and Federal District of Brazil [PDF]
A determinação da gama de hospedeiros de begomovírus isolados de tomateiro (Lycopersicon esculentum) é de elevada importância nos estudos conduzidos com esses patógenos, uma vez que contribui para o entendimento da larga disseminação dos vírus em ...

Do stylet‐borne aphid‐transmitted viruses share the same binding sites?
Here, we tested if different stylet‐borne aphid‐transmitted viruses can compete for the same binding sites within the aphid stylets. We conducted sequential transmission assays of a potyvirus (ZYMV) followed by a cucumovirus (CMV) using Aphis gossypii as a vector and melon and pepper as test plants.

Silencing of the AV2 gene by antisense RNA protects transgenic plants against a bipartite begomovirus [PDF]
Whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses (genus Begomovirus) are phytopathogens that cause heavy losses to crops worldwide. Efforts to engineer resistance against these viruses are focused mainly on silencing of complementary-sense virus genes involved in ...

Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV) causes significant yield and fruit quality losses in cucurbit crops, particularly in the Mediterranean region. We identified a new source of resistance to ToLCNDV in cucumber (accession ABS.PE.045) and mapped resistance to four genomic intervals in chromosomes 1, 2, 6, and 7.

Characterization of Non-coding DNA Satellites Associated with Sweepoviruses (Genus Begomovirus, Geminiviridae) – Definition of a Distinct Class of Begomovirus-Associated Satellites [PDF]
Begomoviruses (family Geminiviridae) are whitefly-transmitted, plant-infecting single-stranded DNA viruses that cause crop losses throughout the warmer parts of the World. Sweepoviruses are a phylogenetically distinct group of begomoviruses that infect plants of the family Convolvulaceae, including sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas).

Studies of the interaction of a new begomovirus isolate from tomato with the whitefly [PDF]
