Insights into the renal pathophysiology in Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome‐1 from urinary extracellular vesicle proteomics and a new mouse model

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 7, Page 1055-1074, April 2025.
Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

Molecular insights into the modulation of the 5HT2A receptor by serotonin, psilocin, and the G protein subunit Gqα

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 6, Page 876-891, March 2025.
We explore 5HT2A receptor activation, a key target for psychedelic drugs, using molecular dynamics simulations. Without Gqα, the active receptor collapses to an inactive conformation, underscoring the G‐protein's role. Discovery of an intermediate “partially‐open” state and the higher affinity of ligands to the orthosteric binding site provides ...

Treatment effects of combining social skill training and parent training in Taiwanese children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2015
Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often have problems in social interactions. We investigated the social and behavioral effects of providing both social skill training and parent training to school-aged children with ADHD in ...

Cognitive Behavior Therapy Compare to Campaign Advertisement Programs in Reducing Aggressive Driving Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of three intervention programs, i.e. CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), humor appeal advertisements (positive ads), and fear appeal advertisements (negative ads) in reducing aggressive driving behavior.

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Evidence-Based Psychosocial Treatments for Pediatric Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior Disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Habits, such as hair pulling and thumb sucking, have recently been grouped into a category of clinical conditions called body-focused repetitive behavior disorders (BFRBDs).

Social Visual Behavior Analytics for Autism Therapy of Children Based on Automated Mutual Gaze Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Social visual behavior, as a type of non-verbal communication, plays a central role in studying social cognitive processes in interactive and complex settings of autism therapy interventions. However, for social visual behavior analytics in children with autism, it is challenging to collect gaze data manually and evaluate them because it costs a lot of

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 8, Page 1094-1112, April 2025.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Motivating Children and Adolescents in Obesity Treatment

open access: yesJournal of Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome, 2020
Enhancing motivation is a crucial issue in pediatric obesity interventions, as behavioral changes related to food intake and physical exercise are difficult to carry out with an insufficient level of motivation.
