Behaviour patterns of South American swans and potential ecosystem services supplied to salt production systems

open access: yesGayana, 2023
Wetland salt works with handcrafted production are scarce in Chile. This activity is the base of the maintenance of some local communities’ economy, establishing small rural groups and helping in the conservation of the cultural traditions.

Maintenance of behaviour change following a community-wide gamification based physical activity intervention

open access: yesPreventive Medicine Reports, 2019
Gamification refers to the use of game mechanics (e.g. competition, point scoring, progress visualisation and task setting) to engage and motivate people to achieve an end goal.

Taking it in turn: an experimental test of theories of the household [PDF]

open access: yes
Using a sample of established couples, we conduct an experiment on household decision-making. Individual partners first make a series of dichotomous choices between household goods and vouchers for experiences and then the couple jointly face the same ...

Territoriality and playground disturbances : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Arts in Education [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The concept of 'territoriality' has become a fairly common term within social scientific literature - and yet its application in the analysis of human behaviour appears to have been made with little reference to, or regard for, the concept's original ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Cognitive finance: Behavioural strategies of spending, saving, and investing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Research in economics is increasingly open to empirical results. The advances in behavioural approaches are expanded here by applying cognitive methods to financial questions.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Loss of the transcription factor RBPJ induces disease-promoting properties in brain pericytes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Pericytes are perivascular cells essential for blood-brain barrier maintenance. Here Diéguez-Hurtado et al. show that depletion of the transcription factor RBPJ in pericytes affects their molecular identity and disturbs endothelial cell behaviour ...

The Impact of Line Maintenance Mechanics’ Attitude, Behavioural Intentions, and Behaviour on Aircraft Safety: A Study of Two Aircraft Maintenance Companies in Hong Kong

open access: yesJournal of Management Research, 2013
This research examined the impact of attitude, behavioural intentions and actual behaviour on aircraft safety amongst by analyzing data collected from aircraft line maintenance mechanics in Hong Kong. The research used two conceptual framework models and structural equation modeling to compare two aircraft maintenance companies and was based on the ...
