Kink-pair mechanism and low temperature flow-stress behaviour of strontium titanate single crystals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The mechanical behaviour of strontium titanate exhibits a remarkable behaviour at low temperature, in the so called regime A, where the flow stress experiences two different temperature dependences separated by a noticeably abrupt drop in between. The dislocation microstructure was investigated and, by making adequate use of the kink-pair model, we ...

Knockout of the mitoribosome rescue factors Ict1 or Mtrfr is viable in zebrafish but not mice: compensatory mechanisms underlying each factor's loss

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Profiling the effect of low frequency mechanical vibration on the metabolic and oxidative stress responses of A431 carcinoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
20 Hz mechanical vibration induced A431 cancer cells' apoptosis without such effect on other healthy cell lines of L929 and C2C12. Lowered glucose consumption is observed specifically in A431. The expressions of ROS, HMGB1, and HSP1 levels initially increase and subsequently decrease in the cancer cell line, as opposed to L929 and C2C12, which ...

The Effect of Covid-19 Lockdown on Human Behaviour Using Analytical Hierarchy Process [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The coronavirus pandemic corresponds to a serious global health crisis which not only changed the way people used to live but also how people behaved in their daily lives. Information from social and behavioural sciences can help in modifying human behaviour to comply with the recommendations of health officials, as the pandemic requires large-scale ...
