Hemodynamic effects of sex and handedness on the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test: the contradiction between neuroimaging and behavioural results [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2018
This study investigated the potential role of sex and handedness on the performance of a computerised Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) in healthy participants by applying functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). We demonstrated significant (p < 0.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

A Framework for Evaluating Model-Driven Self-adaptive Software Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the last few years, Model Driven Development (MDD), Component-based Software Development (CBSD), and context-oriented software have become interesting alternatives for the design and construction of self-adaptive software systems.

Variables associated with sun protection behaviour of preschoolers

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dermatology, 2011
Little research has been published on the variables associated with sun protection behaviour in preschoolers. We aimed to define variables associated with sun protection behaviour of a sample of Spanish preschoolers. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted in two stages: 1) the design and validation of the measurement instrument, and 2) its

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Production of single-domain magnetite throughout life by sockeye salmon, Oncorhynchus nerka [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Although single-domain particles of biogenic magnetite have been found in different species of pelagic fishes, nothing is known about when it is synthesized, or about whether the time during life when it is produced is correlated with the development of

Cost Variability and Cost Behaviour in Manufacturing Enterprises

open access: yesECONOMICS & SOCIOLOGY, 2014
ABSTRACT. The paper is focused to the variability of costs, cost behaviour and discusses the issues of sticky costs. The main goal of this paper is to analyze the issue of the author's project targeted at the topic of cost behaviour and its projection to the costing systems and confront it with the current state of knowledge in the field.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Comprehensive behavioural study of senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 and senescence-accelerated mouse prone 10

open access: yesTranslational Medicine of Aging
Background: Aging is the strongest risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases and has been implicated in important changes in the brain. Rodents, such as mice, have been used to understand age-related changes in brain function, and aging has been studied
