Wave height prediction of Beibu Gulf based on convolution neural network

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract The wave state plays a vital role in the planning of marine activities. Predicting the wave significant height can prepare for the abnormal sea state in advance, which is of crucial influence to the marine activities. Unlike other scholars in the field of ocean research, this paper starting with analyzing artificial neural ...

The Earth's Terrestrial Biodiversity Hotspots in Land Use Debt

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Land‐use change is a primary driver of ecosystem degradation in terrestrial biodiversity hotspots, undermining global sustainability commitments. However, tracking progress under the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) policy, which aims to balance degradation with restoration, requires a systematic assessment of cumulative trends, a critical ...

Bryde's whale (Balaenoptera edeni) occurrence and foraging behaviour along the east coast of Australia

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 59, Issue 4, Page 800-815, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Despite their global occurrence in warm‐temperate waters and their suspected non‐migratory lifestyle, Bryde's whales (Balaenoptera edeni spp.) are considered the least‐known large baleen whale species. In Australian waters, information on their distribution, ecology and behaviour is scarce.

Coastline Identification with ASSA-Resnet Based Segmentation for Marine Navigation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Real-time and accurate segmentation of coastlines is of paramount importance for the safe navigation of unmanned surface vessels (USVs). Classical methods such as U-Net and DeepLabV3 have been proven to be effective in coastline segmentation tasks ...

Biodiversity and Conservation of Marine Mollusks in the Indo‐Pacific Convergence Zone

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
An integrated assessment has identified 11 priority mollusk conservation areas in the Indo‐Pacific Convergence Zone, which harbor 47.9% of species and 58.9% of threatened taxa, though only 18.7% have MPA coverage. Multi‐habitat zones, such as coral–mangrove areas, support 42.3% of molluscan diversity.

Spring circulation characteristics and formation mechanism in the Beibu Gulf

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Spring circulation in the Beibu Gulf remains an underinvestigated research topic. Model results validated by observations reveal that the northern and southern parts of the Beibu Gulf are controlled by an enclosed cyclonic gyre and a cyclonic gyre, respectively, while in the vertical, the circulation at the surface differs from those in the middle and ...

Dynamic changes of population parameters of Nemipterus bathybiusin the Beibu Gulf

open access: yesJournal of Fisheries of China, 2012
Nemipterus bathybius is a small-size demersal species, which is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical oceanic waters. The species is mostly in habitat offshore areas(60 m) and caught commercially by hook-and-line and bottom trawl. The output of N.bathybius ranked first in the catch compositions of demersal fishes during bottom trawl survey ...
