Intestinal Tract Microbe Communities Associated with Horseshoe Crabs from Beibu Gulf, China

Current Microbiology, 2020
Until now, there has been little research on the intestinal microbial community of horseshoe crabs. To fill this gap, we investigated the microbiome composition of the Chinese horseshoe crab, Tachypleus tridentatus, and the mangrove horseshoe crab, Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda. We sequenced the 16S rRNA gene of intestinal bacterial species and compared

Spatiotemporal variation and transport of 137Cs in the Beibu Gulf

Marine Pollution Bulletin
The temporal variation and transport of 137Cs in the Beibu Gulf (BG) are still poorly understood. Here we measured 137Cs concentrations in the BG water column and surface sediments during 2022. We found that 137Cs in the BG water column was controlled by the movement and mixing of local water masses.

Two New Avermectin Derivatives from the Beibu Gulf Gorgonian Anthogorgia caerulea

Chemistry & Biodiversity, 2014
AbstractTwo new avermectin derivatives, avermectins B1c and B1e (1 and 2, resp.), as well as two known compounds, avermectin B2a (3) and ivermectin A1a (4), were isolated from a Beibu Gulf gorgonian coral, Anthogorgia caerulea. The structures of the new compounds were established by detailed spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with spectral data ...

Amino Acid Profiles of Bivalve Mollusks from Beibu Gulf, China

Journal of Aquatic Food Product Technology, 2012
Three bivalve mollusks—clam (Meretrix meretrix), oyster (Crassostrea rivularis), and paphia (Paphia papilionacea) from the Beibu Gulf, China—were analyzed for amino acid profile. Essential amino acids were used for nutritional quality evaluation, and free amino acids were used for taste impact evaluation.

Organic pollutants in the central and coastal Beibu Gulf, South China Sea

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2015
Surface sediments from the central and coastal Beibu Gulf, southern China, were analyzed for persistent organic pollutants. The absence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB; generally below detection limit), low concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH; 24-647 ng g(-1)), and locally high contamination with organo-chloro pesticides (DDT; 0 ...

External Dynamic Mechanisms Controlling the Periodic Offshore Blooms in Beibu Gulf

Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2023
AbstractSince offshore waters are less affected by human activities and nutrient‐rich water masses, existing theories on periodic offshore blooms (POB) consider that the POB is proportional to the intensity of ocean fronts (nutrient supply from enhancing vertical mixing), ignoring external nutrient supply and external forcing (climatic oscillations ...

Groundwater Quality Evaluation of Beihai, Gunangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
In order to strengthen the monitoring and control of the groundwater quality, the groundwater of Hetang and Longtan water source regions in Beihai city was taken as example to evaluate the groundwater quality. PH, Total dissolved solids, Chloride, Iron, Nitrate, Ammonia- nitrogen, Cyanide, Mercury, Cadmium, Lead and so on were selected as the main ...

Modeling the circulation and sediment transport in the Beibu Gulf

Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 2017
Water circulation and sediment transport in the Beibu Gulf are important for its environmental protection and resource exploitation. By employing the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS), we studied the seasonal variation of circulation, sediment transport and long-term morphological evolution in the Beibu Gulf.

Review of the circulation in the Beibu Gulf, South China Sea

Continental Shelf Research, 2017
Abstract Although Beibu Gulf holds a significant geographical location and is rich in fishery resources, it has attracted only limited attention from researchers in recent decades. This study summarizes the conclusions based on the observations and model results regarding the circulation and cold water mass in the Beibu Gulf to provide a reference ...
