A novel analytical method is proposed to evaluate the shear stress effect on the progressive compressive failure and microcrack growth direction in brittle rocks. The shear stress effect on the wing crack growth direction during the progressive compressive failure is determined. The initial crack angle effect on the y‐direction peak stress and the wing

Advances in the Biogeochemical Role of Microorganisms in High‐Level Waste Repository
This review discusses the role of microorganisms in the stability of deep geological repositories for high‐level radioactive waste (HLW). It highlights the survival conditions and sources of microorganisms, their effects on repository structures, and the biogeochemical processes they induce.

Abstract Understanding the deformation history and mechanisms is important for inferring orogenic processes and dynamics. We present new structural and geochronological data from the Pengboshan area in the eastern part of the Heiyingshan–Hanshan Arc (HHA), northern Beishan Orogenic Collage (BOC), to constrain the Carboniferous–Permian deformation ...

Abstract The Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB) is a Phanerozoic accretionary orogen with a complex formation process. This study imaged the three‐dimensional electrical structure of the lithosphere using the magnetotelluric data collected covering the southern margin of the CAOB. The resistivity model shows alternating high and low resistivities along
