Critical review of the definitions of the Bejan number - first law of thermodynamics

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2021
Abstract This paper is an extension of our recently published paper (Zimparov et al., 2020 [ 1 ]), proving that the unique form of the Bejan number (Be) is derived from the classic fluid mechanics and that the other forms, derived from the first law of thermodynamics (related to the convection heat or mass transfer), are combination of unique Bejan ...

Comments on “New insight into the definitions of the Bejan number”

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2021
Abstract These notes aim to increase the awareness of the concept of Bejan Number among the readers of International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer. They refer to the paper of Zimparov et al. because the authors, in their outstanding commentary on Bejan number neglect both the possible confusion which may arise between Hagen Number and ...

New insight into the definitions of the Bejan number

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2020
Abstract This paper presents new insight concerning the formulation and definition of one of the two Bejan numbers (Be) derived from the first and second law analysis, namely this one derived from the first law of thermodynamics. The systematic analysis performed reveals the role and physical meaning of the Bejan number (Be) as criterion of ...

Response to “Comments on “New insight into the definitions of the Bejan number””

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2021
Abstract The present paper is a response to “Comments on “New insight into the definitions of the Bejan number”” [1] and aims at to increase the acquaintance of the readers of the International Communications of Heat and Mass Transfer, with the unique Bejan number and its scope of implementation.

The science and the history of the two Bejan numbers

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2016
Abstract In this note, a historical view on the Bejan numbers (Be) is presented. There are two definitions of Bejan number (Be) in the fields of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer. A general form of Bejan number (Be) is introduced, and application of Bejan number (Be) to flows in porous media is shown.

Numerical treatment of entropy generation and Bejan number into an electroosmotically-driven flow of Sutterby nanofluid in an asymmetric microchannel

Numerical Heat Transfer, Part B: Fundamentals
This article aims to investigate the electrokinetic peristaltic flow of the Sutterby nanofluid through an asymmetric microchannel with a porous medium and the Joule heating parameter. The magnetic field is applied in the transverse direction and the electric field on the flow direction.
