Pathophysiology of the Belgrade rat [PDF]
The Belgrade rat is an animal model of divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1) deficiency. This strain originates from an X-irradiation experiment first reported in 1966. Since then, the Belgrade rat's pathophysiology has helped to reveal the importance of iron balance and the role of DMT1.

This chapter analyzes how self-styled Marshal Tito was impressed with the fourteen-year older generalissimo, Joseph Stalin, who was at the peak of his power and was able to move armies of millions. It talks about Stalin's intention to give Tito arms for building a real army and to send two Soviet strategic formations to the Balkan theater of operations.
