Hertz beyond belief

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2014
We examine the validity of Hertz's linear elastic theory for central collisions using a viscoelastic model. This model explains why Hertz's theory is accurate in predicting the collision time and maximum contact area even when $40\%$ of the kinetic energy is lost due to viscous dissipation.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

UYGUR TÜRKLERİNİN İNANÇ VE UYGULAMALARINDA TOPRAK

open access: yesUluslararası Uygur Araştırmaları Dergisi, 2018
Uygurlar kendinden önce hâkim olmuş Hun ve Köktürklerin kültür mirası üzerine kurulmuş olmakla beraber, bu devletlere nazaran tam bir yerleşik hayata geçmesi ve artık taş üzerine yazılmış belgeler yerine kâğıtlar üzerine yazılmış belgeler bırakmaları ...

WHAT IS “MYTHIC REALITY”?

open access: yesZygon, 2011
.  The topic of the March 2011 symposium in Zygon is “The Mythic Reality of the Autonomous Individual.” Yet few of the contributors even discuss “mythic reality.” Of the ones who do, most cavalierly use “myth” dismissively, as simply a false belief ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
