Testing randomness of series generated in an optical Bell’s experiment

Applied Optics, 2023
The generation of series of random numbers is an important and difficult problem. Appropriate measurements on entangled states have been proposed as the definitive solution to produce series of certified randomness, and quantum optical systems play a major role.

A simple experiment to test Bell’s inequality

Optics Communications, 2003
I show that a very simple experiment using no sophisticated instrumentation can realize a direct test of the Bell inequality to conclude at the validity of the quantum mechanical description of nature against realistic theory without needing to use entangled photon pairs.

A fair sampling test for EPR-Bell experiments

Journal of Russian Laser Research, 2008
The low efficiency of detectors in all EPR experiments with optical photons makes the use of the fair sampling assumption unavoidable. This assumption is reputed to be both reasonable and impossible to test experimentally. We argue that there is, in fact, little evidence supporting the fair sampling assumption, and we propose an experiment capable of ...

Fiber Optic Placing, Splicing, Testing, and Cable Design Experience at Bell Canada

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1986
Bell Canada has passed the stage of field trials and is now into the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and installation of FD-135 (135 Mbit/s) fiber optic transmission systems. The outside plant cables are manufactured by Northern Telecom and consist of a central stranded steel strength member with an extruded plastic slotted profile. Fibers, as well

Local realistic photon model compatible with Malus' law for experiments testing Bell's inequalities

Physics Letters A, 1985
Abstract A local realistic model is proposed that agrees approximately with quantum mechanics in the predictions about experiments testing Bell's inequalities by measuring polarization correlations of photon pairs emitted in atomic cascades. No free parameters exist, except polarizer efficiencies, which may be measured independently using Malu's law.

First test of Lepton Flavor Universality in the charmed baryon decays $Ω^{0}_{c} \to Ω^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ using data of the Belle experiment

2021
We present the first observation of the $Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ$ decay and present measurements of the branching fraction ratios of the $Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ decays compared to the reference mode $Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-} π^+$, ($\ell = e$ or $μ$).

EPR experiments and Bell's inequality tests using type-II parametric down conversion

1996
Simultaneous entanglement in spin and space-time of a two-photon quantum state generated in type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion is demonstrated by the observation of quantum interference with 98% visibility in simple beam-splitter (Hanburry Brown-Twiss) anticorrelation and quantum beating experiments.

Preparatory experiments for a cosmic Bell test and satellite-based quantum communication

2016
This thesis describes those preparatory experiments, that are essiential for the realization of two planned quantum free-space projects. The Quantum Experiments at Space Scale (QUESS) project pursues the aim to enable an unconditional secure quantum key exchange between a satellite and different optical ground stations.
