Loophole-free Bell test using electron spins in diamond: second experiment and additional analysis [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractThe recently reported violation of a Bell inequality using entangled electronic spins in diamonds (Hensen et al., Nature 526, 682–686) provided the first loophole-free evidence against local-realist theories of nature. Here we report on data from a second Bell experiment using the same experimental setup with minor modifications.

Forest litter crickets prefer higher substrate moisture for oviposition: Evidence from field and lab experiments. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
For insects, choosing a favorable oviposition site is a type of parental care, as far as it increases the fitness of its offspring. Niche theory predicts that crickets should show a bell-shaped oviposition response to substrate moisture.

Optical tests of quantum nonlocality: from EPR‐Bell tests towards experiments with moving observers

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, 2000
AbstractPast, present and future experimental tests of quantum nonlocality are discussed. Consequences of assuming that the state‐vector collapse is a real physical phenomenon in space‐time are developed. These lead to experiments feasible with today's technology.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Proposal for a new test of Bell's inequality in an optical interference experiment

open access: yesOptics Communications, 1988
Abstract A new experimental test of Bell's inequality is proposed, that depends on measurements of the two-photon detection probability as a function of position in an interference experiment. Although the experiment also makes use of polarizers, the polarization angles remain fixed and only the detector positions are varied.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Test of light-lepton universality in τ decays with the Belle II experiment

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Abstract We present a measurement of the ratio $$ {R}_{\mu }=\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {\mu}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_{\mu }{\nu}_{\tau}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {e}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_e{\nu}_{\tau}\right) $$ R ...

Is Einsteinian no-signalling violated in Bell tests?

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2017
Relativistic invariance is a physical law verified in several domains of physics. The impossibility of faster than light influences is not questioned by quantum theory.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
