Cost‐Benefit Analysis of the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in Fertilizer Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), launching 2026, will charge EU importers for embedded carbon emissions, aiming to reduce emissions but raising import costs. Shifts in demand following implementation may reduce carbon emissions, but importers will bear the cost of increased prices.

Cost Pass‐Through in Crisis: Evidence From the German Malt‐Beer Supply Chain

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract Global agri‐food supply chains are increasingly exposed to geopolitical shocks, climate volatility, and market consolidation, factors that disrupt traditional price relationships and reshape market power dynamics. Nowhere is this more visible than in the brewing sector, where agricultural raw materials meet complex industrial processing and ...

Complete Pathway Refactoring and Combinatorial Biosynthesis of Anthracyclines for Modulation of Histone Eviction and DNA Damage Bioactivities

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A synthetic biology platform was established for the complete refactoring of complex anthracycline biosynthetic pathways in Streptomyces coelicolor using standardized, chemically synthetic DNA parts. This modular construction enabled streamlined combinatorial biosynthesis, yielding novel analogs that decouple DNA damage from chromatin damage (histone ...

An Autonomous Large Language Model‐Agent Framework for Transparent and Local Time Series Forecasting

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Architecture of the proposed large language model (LLM)‐based agent framework for autonomous time series forecasting in thermal power generation systems. The framework operates through a vertical pipeline initiated by natural language queries from users, which are processed by the LLM Agent Core powered by Llama.cpp and a ReAct loop with persistent ...

The causal effect of agricultural landscape simplification on Germany's grasslands during a compound drought and heatwave in 2018

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Preserving ecosystem services, along with economic and environmental benefits, will require future landscape policies to identify and incorporate relevant landscape features. In this paper, we investigate the causal effect of agricultural landscape simplification on drought‐related grassland damages.

31P Solid‐State NMR‐Enabled Development of a Pt/Aluminum Tripolyphosphate Catalyst for Selective C─O Bond Hydrogenolysis of Phenols

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
31P solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance analysis revealed the presence of aluminum tripolyphosphate on the surface of a platinum/aluminum condensed phosphate mixture (ACPM) catalyst. This finding led to the development of a Pt/aluminum tripolyphosphate (Pt/ATPP) catalyst for the selective hydrogenolysis of phenols to arenes.

Success of coastal sage scrub restoration is influenced by local adaptations of shrub species

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Restoring plant communities is increasingly challenging with climate change. While practitioners have traditionally used local seed sources, many are recommending assisted migration, possibly from more extreme environments such as inland rather than coastal environments, for restoration.
