Industrial drive belt tensioning optimization

2013 International Conference on Current Trends in Engineering and Technology (ICCTET), 2013
The extension of the useful life of manufacturing equipment is one of the keys to sustainable manufacturing. The high uptime requirements of the Mechanical industry result in the need for conservative preventive maintenance schemes, which leads to replacement of key components before the end of their useful life.

Belt Tension Decay of Automotive V and V-Ribbed Belts

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1980
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The tension decay of V and V-ribbed belts has been a concern of engineers and maintenance people for many years. The relationship between initial tension and retained tension are studied for a variety of belt cross sections.

Belt Tensioning Procedures on IC Engines

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 1991
The tension in auxiliary and camshaft drive belts is set during assembly of the engine. Repeatable and accurately known tensions are required to ensure long life and low noise levels. Experimental results, based on tests carried out on two engines, show how setting procedure, pulley tolerances and creep can affect the long-term values of belt tension.

Tension in a flat belt transmission: Experimental investigation

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2013
Abstract In this paper we report the results of an experimental investigation aimed at determining the tension variation in a flat belt transmission. The belt tension was obtained by measuring its deformation with electrical resistance strain gauges. The investigation results are preceded by a reference to the belt transmission theory, in particular ...

Tension distribution in multiple V-belt drives

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1995
Determination of the tension distribution in a multiple V-belt drive represents a statically indeterminate problem. The analysis can be split into four parts viz: initial tension, torque transmission, tension distribution and statistics. Here a unified theory is presented based on reasonable assumptions.

BELT TENSION ANALYSIS AND KINEMATIC CALCULATION

2021
When we analyze these graphs, the number of transmissions is greater than the largest, The number of transmissions reaches the smallest value. So, from the graph it turns out that with the growth of the eccentricity of the tensile roller, the change in the number of transmissions of the stretch occurs as the interval increases in one straight line ...

A Study on Automatic Belt Tensioner Life Evaluation in Accessory Belt System

Key Engineering Materials, 2005
It is well-known that the noise and vibration from the torque change of the engine and the inertia change of its accessories (alternator and water pump) have severe effects on both the quality and the life expectancy of the engine belt system. An automatic belt tensioner is generally used not only to reduce the noise and vibration of such belt system ...
