Unsupervised classification of beluga whale vocalizations
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005Unsupervised classification techniques are designed to discover natural groupings in a collection of data. For instance, unsupervised classification methods can be used to help define a repertoire for a species by grouping similar vocalizations together. The vocalizations grouped together are then defined as a single call type in the repertoire.

Microsatellites from the beluga whaleDelphinapterus leucas
Molecular Ecology, 1996AbstractFifteen microsatellites were isolated from a beluga whaleDelphinapterus leucas, genomic library. The microsatellites were amplified in 100 beluga obtained from two widely separated locations. An average of 8.6 alleles per locus were detected and the average heterozygosity was 0.65 with a range of 0.27–0.86.
