C-Anchor for Strengthening the Connection between Adhesively Bonded Laminates and Concrete Substrates

open access: yesTechnologies, 2015
A new carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) anchor is developed and tested to delay debonding in reinforced concrete (RC) beams externally strengthened with FRP laminate/sheet. The C-shape anchor is made from a commercially available CFRP grid.

Bending tensions and the bending rigidity of fluid membranes

open access: yesJournal de Physique II, 1993
It is shown theoretically that the lateral tension associated with bending may in effect reduce the elastic resistance to curvature of fluid membranes. In particular, the spontaneous curvature of surfactant monolayers gives rise to a reduction of the bending rigidity.

Microscale 3D Printed Pillars and Porous Polymeric Structures: Manufacturability and Micromechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates how two‐photon polymerization enables the fabrication of microscale solid and porous structures from IP‐Q, IP‐S, and IP‐PDMS resins. Combining morphological and mechanical characterization, the study provides the first systematic insights into IP‐Q mechanics and reveals how processing parameters affect structure and stiffness ...

Single variable refined beam theories for the bending, buckling and free vibration of homogenous beams

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2016
In this paper, single variable beam theories taking into account effect of transverse shear deformation are developed and applied for the bending, buckling and free vibration analysis of thick isotropic beams.

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
