Micromagnetic studies of three-dimensional pyramidal shell-structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this article we present a systematic, numerical analysis of the magnetic properties of pyramidal-shaped core-shell structures in a size range below 400nm.These are three dimensional structures consisting of a ferromagnetic shell which is grown on top ...

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates

open access: yes, 2013
A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory is developed for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates. The theory accounts for sinusoidal distribution of transverse shear stress, and satisfies the free transverse shear stress ...

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Aspects of flexural behavior of high strength concrete elements with or without steel fibers [PDF]

open access: yesUrbanism. Arhitectura. Constructii, 2013
Steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (SFRHSC) is concrete made of hydraulic cements containing fine or fine and coarse aggregate and discontinuous discrete steel fibers. In tension, SFRHSC fails only after the steel fiber breaks or is pulled out

Simplified formulations for the determination of rotational spring constants in rigid spread footings resting on tensionless soil

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2017
In spread footings, the rotational spring constants, which represent the soil-structure interaction, play an important role in the structural analysis and design.

Behavioral Change in Physical, Anatomical, and Mechanical Characteristics of Thermally Treated Pinus roxburghii Wood

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Thermal treatment of pine wood was carried out at 80, 120, 160, and 200 °C for 2, 4, and 6 hours. The highest mean values were, for specific gravity (0.492), moisture content (29.1%), and maximum moisture content (191%), whereas the lowest mean values ...
