To bend or not to bend ... [PDF]
IgE-FceRI complex formation represents a critical step in the initiation of allergic responses. Conformational changes involving the Ce2 domain may underlie the persistent activation of FceRI-bearing cells.

To bend or not to bend: Impact on heat pipe performance
2023 29th International Workshop on Thermal Investigations of ICs and Systems (THERMINIC), 2023Thermal management of electronics continues to be a dominant factor that needs attention already early in the design phase. Within complex systems, typically a battle for space is imminent due to the multidisciplinary nature. In this respect, the use of low-form-factor phase-Transitional devices is standard industry practice nowadays.

To Bend or Not to Bend! The Dilemma of Allenes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011Allenes, though expected to be linear, are found to be bent in many examples, especially in the case of cyclic allenes. The bending of allene is attributed to the weakening of π-bond strength across the allene. However, tetrakis(dimethylamino)allene {((CH(3))N)(2)C═C═C(N(CH(3))(2))}, which is characterized by push-push interactions, has been shown to ...

Bending of few-layer graphene leads to interlayer slip, and slipping lowers the bending stiffness. Beyond a critical bending angle, the graphene layers bend like a stack of paper, with a state of superlubricity for interlayer slip.

Long-Handled Sponges: To Bend or Not To Bend
Assistive Technology, 2002The purpose of this study was to compare upper extremity range of motion when using a straight-handled long-handled sponge versus a bent-handled long-handled sponge. Thirty-eight participants ranging in age from 20 to 55 years were randomly assigned to one of two order groups: straight-bent or bent-straight.

A 6-month-old girl of Asian origin presented with bowing of her right leg noted from a few weeks of age. There was no history suggestive of trauma to the limb. Birth history, social history, developmental history and family history were unremarkable. On examination she had bowing of her right leg (figure 1) and multiple brown skin macules.
