Modeling of Tensile Creep and Recovery of Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders at Low Temperatures

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2015
The creep and recovery of asphalt modified with Elvaloy 4170 and polyphosphoric acid were studied at low temperatures, by inductive phenomenological methods. Two models of the tensile compliance function were investigated.

Investigation of Rheological Characteristics of Powdered Activated Carbon Modified Bitumen for Use in Self-Healing Mechanism of Asphalt Concrete [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering
Asphalt pavement is used in road construction with the aim of withstanding loads and heavy traffic. Increasing axial loads and heavy vehicle traffic lead to failures, including rutting, thermal cracking, and fatigue cracking.

Thermo‐Chemically Modified Silk Scaffolds Reveal Niche‐Driven Regulation of Hematopoiesis and Fibrosis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We introduce a versatile 3D platform that recreates key physical and biological features of the human bone marrow. By integrating tunable silk biomaterials, stromal cells, and human hematopoietic progenitors, the model captures both healthy and diseased microenvironments, analysis of blood formation, and its disruption in pathological conditions ...

Effect of Various Metal Hydroxide Flame Retardants on the Rheological Properties of Asphalt Binder

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2019
Metal hydroxide has been widely used as flame retardant to reduce the hazards of tunnel fire, however, few researches investigate its effect on the rheological properties of asphalt binder systemically.

Fused Deposition Modeling of Industrial Waste LDPE‐Polystyrene Blends: Comparing Low and Medium Melt Flow Index of LDPE Waste

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 10, March 10, 2026.
Schematic overview of the upcycling of industrial LDPE waste via fused deposition modeling (FDM). ABSTRACT This study explores the potential of additive manufacturing (AM) to upcycle industrial waste low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) by investigating the effect of LDPE waste's melt flow index (MFI) on the printability of LDPE/polystyrene (PS) blends via ...

Bio-Based Renewable Additives for Anti-Icing Applications (Phase II) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The performance and impacts of several agro-based anti-icers along with a traditional chloride-based anti-icer (salt brine) were evaluated. A statistical design of experiments (central composite design) was employed for developing anti-icing liquids ...

Viscous pumping inspired by flexible propulsion

open access: yes, 2014
Fluid-suspended microorganisms have evolved different swimming and feeding strategies in order to cope with an environment dominated by viscous effects. For instance ciliated organisms rely on the collective motion of flexible appendices to move and feed.
