Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Wave-induced response and fatigue analysis of free-spanning submarine cables with nonlinear bending stiffness

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment
IntroductionUnder long-term wave–current interactions, the free-spanning submarine cables are prone to fatigue damage. Owing to the presence of helically wound layers within the submarine cable, its bending stiffness exhibits pronounced nonlinear ...

A Summary of the Research on the Effect of Gear Tooth Root Strengthening on Bending Fatigue Strength based on Residual Stress

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2019
With the continuous development of engineering technology, bending fatiguestrength has become an important limiting factor for the further development of gears, and bending fatigue failure is more dangerous than tooth surface failure.

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.
