20 kHz 3-point bending fatigue of automotive steels

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The 20 kHz load frequency enables fatigue tests for very high cycle fatigue life, 109-1013 cycles, within conveniently short time. In automotive applications, many components are subjected to flexural loading and hence bending fatigue is an important ...

Extreme‐Temperature Resistant, Flexible, and Sensitive Strain Sensor for Aerospace Parachute Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this study, we report a resistive‐type strain sensor fabricated using single‐walled CNTs, are used layer using the pray technique to deposit as conductive, and UV‐resin was spin‐coated as a protection layer. The sensor functioned in harsh temperature variation conditions from −50°C to 125°C without deterioration.

The role of pores and microstructural heterogeneity on the tooth root fatigue strength of sintered spur gears

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The automotive industry employs a considerable amount of sintered parts, mainly as transmission and engine components. Gears are the parts that mostly benefit, in terms of cost saving, from the near net shape P/M technology.

Bending Fatigue Strength of Austempered Ductile Iron Spur Gears

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2009
This paper deals with an experimental evaluation of bending fatigue strength for austempered ductile iron (ADI) spur gears. The module is 2.5 and the number of teeth is 26 in the test gears. The material of the test gears corresponds to Japan Industrial Standard (JIS) FCAD1100-15. Some gears are processed by one of two types of fine particle bombarding

Direct Laser Writing of Magnetic Micro Actuators With a Stimulus‐Responsive Compliant Hinge

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a versatile modular design strategy for adaptive 3D microactuators. Using two‐photon‐induced C,H insertion reactions within solid polymer layers, chemically distinct hinge and stimulus responsive materials are patterned in one step. The hinge's properties enable tunable motion, mechanical control, and reconfigurable actuation across

Fatigue response of as built DMLS processed Maraging Steel and effects of machining and heat and surface treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The main motivations for this study arise from the need for an assessment of the fatigue performance of DMLS produced Maraging Steel MS1, when it is used in the \u201cas fabricated\u201d state. The literature indicates a lack of knowledge from this point
