Buckling of Double-T Construction Elements for Bridges in Case of Complicated Loading

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2009
This paper analyzes the stability of double-T elements with complicated loading under bending moment and extra torsional moment. In case of simple bending, long elements and elements of small cross-section are under bending and torsion moments.

Prediction of bending moment resistance of screw connected joints in plywood members using regression models and compare with that commercial medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particleboard [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Wood and Paper Industries, 2014
The study aimed at predicting bending moment resistance plywood of screw (coarse and fine threads) joints using regression models. Thickness of the member was 19mm and compared with medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particleboard with 18mm thicknesses.

Exact theory of kinkable elastic polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The importance of nonlinearities in material constitutive relations has long been appreciated in the continuum mechanics of macroscopic rods. Although the moment (torque) response to bending is almost universally linear for small deflection angles, many ...

Bending technology of high strength steel sheets and tools for its realization

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2020
The article proposes and theoretically justifies a method for bending high-strength steels with compression. The technology allows to get parts from high-strength steels without cracks along the bending line.

Vibration and buckling of thin-walled composite I-beams with arbitrary lay-ups under axial loads and end moments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A finite element model with seven degrees of freedom per node is developed to study vibration and buckling of thin-walled composite I-beams with arbitrary lay-ups under constant axial loads and equal end moments.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Bend Propagation by a Sliding Filament Model for Flagella [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
1. If active sliding occurs between flagellar filaments, as suggested for the sliding filament mechanism for muscular contraction, it will generate positive bending in one direction along the flagellum and negative bending in the opposite direction ...
