Orthotropic Bending Properties of Fiberboard

Abstract : An experimental procedure for the determination of the orthotropic bending stiffness of fiberboard is described, including the loading apparatus, strain gauges used, recording equipment and data reduction procedure. Results obtained using the described procedure are presented for V3C fiberboard.

Tomography for properties of materials that bend rays: a tutorial

When tomography is performed with electromagnetic or acoustical radiation, refraction may cause sufficient bending of the probing rays that ordinary reconstruction algorithms, which are based on the assumption of straight rays, do not yield accurate results.

Plastic properties of matrix composites in bending

Using the methods of integrated cross-sections and elastic solutions, we solve an elastico-plastic problem of bending of a Kirchhoff inhomogeneous square plate. The elastico-plastic properties and the effective yield stress of the inhomogeneous plate are calculated on an electronic computer.

BENDING PROPERTIES OF LAMINATED-LUMBER GIRDERS

Twenty-seven girders were “built up” from dimension lumber and tested to failure in bending. Each girder was 7.9 m (26 ft) in length and contained three layers, with each of these layers comprised of stacked 38 ×140 and 38 × 235 mm (nominal 2 ×6 and 2 ×10 in.) members. Nails were used to join individual layers in 10 of the assemblies.
