Throughout the preceding chapters it was shown that the forces acting on structural members produce in them reactions which result in equilibrium. As we have seen, these reactions differ in magnitude and intensity according to the structural layout and overall shape of a building.

The solution of the equation of motion consists in finding the displacements at the nodes of the structure. With these displacements, the internal forces and moments are also ascertained. These latter have, like the displacements, space fixed coordinates.

This paper describes a technique for stress relaxation measurement in bending at ambient and elevated temperatures. This technique utilizes a double-triangle-shaped specimen which is loaded at three points. The load remaining in the specimen at any time during the test is determined using a lift-off technique.
