Fatigue Tests of Metals under Repeated Bending Stresses with Varying Mean Bending Stresses

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1964
Many investigations of fatigue of metals under actual stresses have been carried out recently. Most of them have been done in the case where only the amplitudes of repeated stresses are varying with time. In the case of actual stress spectra of machine members, however, not only the amplitudes of repeated stresses but also the mean stresses fluctuate ...

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

On the Bending Stress of Spur Gear : (2nd Report, The Stress Concentration Factor and the Equation for the Calculation of Bending Stress of Gear Tooth)

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1961
In the present paper the authors studied the position of the weakest section of a gear tooth and the stress concentration factor at the tensile-side fillet of a tooth. Then they calculated the stress concentration factors for some components of the force on the tooth profile, and found the relation among these factors.

Enhancing Fatigue Crack Growth Resistance in Heterostructured Aluminum Bimetals by Tailored Interface Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Different Al/Al bimetals with a single engineered interface reveal how mechanical mismatch governs fatigue crack growth under cyclic loading. Additionally, loading–unloading–reloading tests link the microyielding behavior to the fatigue crack growth resistance, while crack‐path analysis reveals toughening mechanisms at the interface, highlighting ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Direct Experimental Demonstration of Bend-Induced Transformation of Magnetic Structure in Amorphous Microwires

open access: yesSensors
In the pursuit of active elements for bending and curvature sensors, magneto-optical investigations were performed on bent microwires. For the first time, local surface magnetization reversal curves were obtained from various sides of bent Co-rich and Fe-
