Cantor Coding of Song Sequence in the Bengalese Finch HVC
2013Cantor coding has been theoretically proposed as an excellent way to encode sequential information in the brain. Empirical verification has been successfully given for the dynamical nature of the Cantor coding in experiments using hippocampal slice preparations.

Song Syntax in Bengalese Finches: Proximate and Ultimate Analyses
2004Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the song syntax in Bengalese finches. Bengalese finch song has a unique type of complexity. The syntactical rules underlying it by statistical methods are analyzed and found that the songs of these birds could be expressed as finite state syntax.
