Influence of Climate and Additives on Bentazon

Weed Science, 1975
Experiments were conducted in the growth chamber and greenhouse to determine the influence of humidity, temperature, simulated rainfall, and oil additives with bentazon [3-isopropyl-1H-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-(4) 3H-one 2,2-dioxide] upon redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexusL.) control.

Phytoremediation experimentation with the herbicide bentazon

Remediation Journal, 1997
AbstractAn experiment was performed on six species of trees to determine the feasibility of remediating groundwater contaminated with an agricultural herbicide, bentazon, at a site in southern Louisiana. Fate studies on bentazon support that it is translocated to the plant leaves where it is degraded by photolysis to lower‐order derivative compounds ...

Modeling the THz spectrum of the bentazon

Chinese Optics Letters, 2011
Terahertz (THz) spectra of bentazon are determined within the range of 0.3?2.4 THz at room temperature. Density functional methods are used to compute the THz spectra using three different programs: Gaussian03 for isolated-molecule form, DMol3 and CRYSTAL09 for solid-state forms. Among the three, the computed THz spectrum of CRYSTAL09 shows better bond

Bentazone Leaching in Spanish Soils

Pesticide Science, 1996
Adsorption, incubation and soil-column experiments with bentazone [3-isopropyl-1H-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide] were carried out in ten different soils from the marches surrounding the Donana National Park (Huelva, SW Spain). Adsorption isotherms for the different soils showed a good fit with the Freundlich equation. Bentazone was poorly

Influence of the herbicide bentazon on soil microbial community

Microbiological Research, 1996
Changes in microbial numbers and activities in a soil in response to bentazon applied at 10 and 100 ppm were studied after 4 and 30 weeks of incubation in laboratory conditions. As regards the eight general and functional microbial groups studied (aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi, aerobic and anaerobic N2-fixing bacteria, nitrifiers, aerobic and ...

Time effect on bentazone sorption and degradation in soil

Pest Management Science, 2004
Abstract Previous sorption/desorption batch experiments have indicated that bentazone is weakly sorbed by soils. In addition, field experiments have shown that 4% of the bentazone sprayed can be leached to drainage water. In order to complete bentazone characterisation, we have assessed the effect of time on its behaviour in ...

Lethal Bentazone Intoxication – A Report of Two Cases

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2017
AbstractThis study presents two cases of lethal bentazone poisonings, their clinical presentation, the course of the disease and the autopsy findings. The first is a 50‐year‐old male who had sprayed corn with a solution of bentazone and was admitted to the hospital with sweating, fever, nausea, vomiting of aqueous and hemorrhagic content, and bloody ...

Organosmectites as sorbent and carrier of the herbicide bentazone

Science of The Total Environment, 2000
Sorption isotherms of bentazone on diverse organoclays (OCls) were measured at aqueous concentrations from 25 to 1500 microM. Sorption on organophilic OCls, OCls with large quaternary alkylammonium groups, i.e. hexadecyltrimethylammonium (AHDT) and dioctadecyldimethylammonium (ADOD), were compared to that on sorptive OCls, which have large primary ...

Differential Effects of UAN on Antagonism with Bentazon

Weed Technology, 1990
The effect of urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) on the antagonism of sethoxydim, haloxyfop, or the methyl ester of haloxyfop activity by bentazon was evaluated in greenhouse and field trials on yellow and giant foxtail. Including UAN in the spray solution in the absence of bentazon did not enhance the activity of any of the three grass herbicides.

Compatibility of Diclofop and BAS 9052 with Bentazon

Weed Science, 1982
BAS 9052 {2-[1-(ethoxyimino)-butyl]-5-[2-(ethylthio)propyl]-3-hydroxy-2-cyclohexen-1-one} effectively controlled annual grasses in soybean [Glycine max(L.) Merr.] alone or in combination with bentazon [3-isopropyl-1H-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4(3H)-one 2,2-dioxide] in greenhouse and field experiments.
