Trust in Regulation in a Time of Revolution

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines trust in regulation as a core value and precondition of the modern liberal democratic regulatory state. It develops a concept of justified trust in regulation, grounded in regulatory trustworthiness—honesty, competence, and reliability—rather than in proxies such as partisan loyalty, blind faith, obedience, or resignation.

Gastrointestinal microbiota and barrier integrity in individuals who develop exertional heat illness and pair‐matched controls: A prospective observational cohort study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract It has been hypothesised that the composition of the gastrointestinal (GI) microbiota contributes to exertional heat illness (EHI) aetiology, but relevant empirical data in humans are lacking. Utilising a unique prospective study design, stool samples and resting blood samples were obtained from 550 individuals prior to (within 3 days ...

Whole genome sequencing of historical specimens from the world's largest fungal collection yields high‐quality assemblies

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 2, Page 752-767, July 2026.
Summary High‐throughput molecular studies of museum specimens (museomics) have great potential in biodiversity research, but fungal historical collections have scarcely been examined, leading to no comprehensive methodological assessments. Here we present a whole genome sequencing (WGS) project conducted at the Fungarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens ...

On the Photo‐Oxidation of Organic Photovoltaic Materials: The Case of PTQ10 and PM6 Blends With Y6‐12

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Wantz et al. reveal how donor–acceptor interactions govern light‐induced degradation in organic solar cells. PTQ10 is destabilized, whereas PM6 is partially stabilized by Y6‐12. Crystallinity suppresses photo‐oxidation while modulating performance, defining key design principles for efficient, long‐lived organic photovoltaics.
