UPPER ALBIAN BENTHIC FORAMINIFERS NEW IN WEST TEXAS
The Journal of Foraminiferal Research, 2002Part of the Lower Cretaceous Gulf Coast carbonate platform is exposed in west Texas and mapped as the Albian Devils River Formation. Two species of larger benthic foraminifers are described for the first time from this unit that have biostratigraphic utility. Paracoskinolina coogani n. sp.

Ecology of benthic foraminifers in the littoral zone of Iturup Island
Oceanology, 2006The composition and abundance of present-day benthic foraminifers in the littoral zone of Iturup Island are examined. The littoral zone is surveyed on the sides of both the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pacific Ocean. The greatest species diversity and the maximum foraminifer abundance were observed on the bench and at the sites of attachment of seaweeds and ...

Morphological abnormalities in benthic foraminifers of the Antalya coast
2019Many researchers report abnormal test morphologies in benthic foraminifers and some suggest that anthropogenic pollution may be one of the causes for these anomalies. Some species are even used as bioindicators of anthropogenic pollution. However, environmental stress may be exerted by natural factors also, such as hypersalinity, periodical ...

A review of benthic foraminifers and ostracodes of the Antalya coast
2019We studied benthic foraminifer and ostracod faunas from the Southwestern coasts of Antalya (Turkey) in 227 sediment samples collected by SCUBA divers in July and August, 2002. We identified 50 foraminifer genera and 96 species, some of which contained numerous large specimens.

Benthic Foraminifers From Eastern Gulf of Alaska: ABSTRACT
AAPG Bulletin, 1980Grab samples, dart cores, and gravity cores from the Gulf of Alaska between Montague Island and Yakutat Bay were analyzed for benthic foraminifers. Robust specimens of Cassidulina californica, C. limbata, and Cibicides lobatulus are abundant in coarse sediment on Tarr Bank, Middleton Island platform, and along much of the outer shelf east of Kayak ...

Alkalization of seawater enhances calcification of large benthic foraminifers.
There is concern that the increasing pCO2 following the Industrial Revolution Period might lead to ocean acidification, which could affect calcifying organisms in the oceans. Recently, negative emission technology has been attracting attention as an effective countermeasure for greenhouse gas emissions.Shunichi Kinoshita +3 more

Twin embryos in the larger benthic foraminifer Nephrolepidina praemarginata
2015Twin embryos were recovered in Nephrolepidina praemarginata populations from the upper Rupelian of the Caltavuturo Formation (Sicily). Biometric data and photographic evidences suggest that Siamese-twins embryos result from joined cells produced from the same reproductive cyst during the multiple fissions. The fusion of juveniles may occur before the
