Purification of Crude Bentonite Clay: Synthesis and Characterization of Na, Mg and Cu Incorporated Bentonite Clay

open access: yesAsian Journal of Chemistry, 2022
Commercially available natural bentonite clay samples obtained from Oil India Limited, India, were purified via standard sedimentation process followed by screening with the help of siphoning process by applying Stock’s law to obtain < 2 μm fraction of the clay.

Characterization of bentonite clay from 'Greda' deposit

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2011
Based on mineralogical and technological investigations of the deposit 'Greda' important characteristics of bentonite clay were determined. Representative samples of the deposit were characterized with X-ray diffraction, low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, chemical analysis, differential thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy.

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,

Schiff-Based Modified Bentonite Clay Composites for Wastewater Treatment: Experimental and DFT-Based Analysis

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
A new bentonite clay composite was synthesized by modifying bentonite clay and Schiff base (SB). The purpose of the composite was to eliminate methylene blue (MB) from wastewater. To characterize its efficacy, several spectroscopic techniques (UV-Visible

Enhancing the performance of Xanthan gum in water-based mud systems using an environmentally friendly biopolymer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Xanthan gum is commonly used in drilling fluids to provide viscosity, solid suspension, and fluid-loss control. However, it is sensitive to high temperatures and not tolerant of field contaminants. This paper presents an experimental study on the effects
