Bentonite clays as aflatoxin B1 adsorbents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In this study three bentonite clays (bentonite from deposit Beretnica in Republic of Serbia, commercial bentonite and gray clay from Šipovo deposit in Bosnia and Herzegovina) were investigated as adsorbents of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). In a single in vitro AFB1 adsorption experiment, all three bentonites showed high adsorption efficiency for AFB1 at pH 5 ...

Oxide Formation at the Sulfide Film‐Copper Interface in Anoxic Sulfide Solution and On‐Line Sulfide Detection Via Linear Polarization Resistance

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 3, Page 391-397, March 2026.
A flow through cell arrangement was used to examine the oxide formation at copper–copper sulfide interface in an anoxic, sulfide environment. Oxide formation on surface occurs because of exposure to aerated water during sample preparation. On‐line sulfide detection based on the linear polarization resistance of copper is also presented.

Strategies for Mitigating Seasonal Heavy Metal Release in River Sediments Using Natural Mineral‐Based Materials

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents an ecological and geochemical assessment of trace element contamination in the Huyva River (Ukraine), a right tributary of the Teteriv River that supplies drinking water to Zhytomyr and nearby settlements. The research involved monitoring key physicochemical parameters, including pH, mineralization, hardness, and major ion ...

Survey on Faecal Microbiota Transplantation and Probiotic Use in Equine Practice in France and Belgium

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
A survey of 96 equine veterinarians in France and Belgium revealed widespread therapeutic use of probiotics (82.1%) and faecal microbiota transplantation (76.0%). Knowledge gaps persisted, with 16.7% misidentifying non‐probiotic products and only 22.5% performing donor testing before FMT.

Evaluation and Optimization of Azithromycin Removal by Raw and Alkali‐Modified Peanut Shells Using Taguchi‐Based Experimental Design Approach

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study demonstrates the optimization of azithromycin removal using raw and alkali‐modified peanut shell adsorbents via the Taguchi method, achieving up to 85% efficiency. The adsorption is governed by π–π interactions and hydrogen bonding, highlighting bio‐adsorbents as sustainable solutions for antibiotic removal from wastewater. ABSTRACT Advanced

Broadband Dielectric Analysis of Clays: Impact of Cation Exchange Capacity, Water Content, and Porosity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Clay‐rich soils and sediments are key components of near‐surface systems, influencing water retention, ion exchange, and structural stability. Their complex dielectric response under moist conditions arises from surface–ion electrostatics and diffuse double layers that govern transport and retention processes. This study explores the broadband
