Benzofuran based PDE4 inhibitors

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1999
Replacement of the 3,4-dialkoxyphenyl substructure common to a number of PDE4 inhibitors with a 2-alkyl-7-methoxybenzofuran unit is described. This substitution can result in either enhancement or substantial reductions in PDE4 inhibitory activity depending on the system to which it is applied.

Benzofurans, benzofuran dimers and other constituents from Ophryosporus charua

Phytochemistry, 1997
Aerial parts of Ophryosporus charua afforded several known and five new benzofuran derivatives, as well as two prenylated p-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives. The essential oil contained lavandulyl acetate, lavandulol and dehydrotremetone as the main constituents.

Benzofuran bioisosteres of hallucinogenic tryptamines

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1992
The benzofuran analogues of the hallucinogens 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine and 5-methoxy-alpha-methyltryptamine were synthesized and evaluated for affinity at the serotonin 5-HT2 and 5-HT1A receptors in rat brain homogenate, labeled with [125I]-1-(2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenyl)-2-aminopropane ([125I]DOI) and [3H]-8-hydroxy-2-(N,N-di-n-propylamino ...

Benzofuran Trimers for Organic Electroluminescence

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2004
AbstractFour linear benzofuran trimers have been prepared by a two‐stage synthetic procedure. They were tested as materials for organic electroluminescence (OEL). Precursor phenylene ethynylene oligomers were formed in the first stage, then after removal of the phenolic hydroxyl protecting groups, a base was used to promote the cyclization of ortho ...

Antiviral benzofurans from Eupatorium chinense

Phytochemistry, 2016
Eleven benzofuran dimers, (+)-dieupachinins A-E, (-)-dieupachinins A-E and dieupachinin F, a benzofuran trimer trieupachinin A, as well as seven known compounds were isolated from the roots of Eupatorium chinense. The enantiomers of racemates dieupachinins A-E were separated by chiral HPLC. The structures with absolute configurations were elucidated on

Bioactive Benzofuran derivatives: A review

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
In nature's collection of biologically active heterocycles, benzofuran derivatives constitute a major group. The broad spectrum of pharmacological activity in individual benzofurans indicates that this series of compounds is of an undoubted interest.

Ionic hydrogenation of benzofurans

Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1975
Benzofurans are arranged in the order 2-methylbenzofuran > 3-methylbenzofuran > benzofuran with respect to the case with which they undergo ionic hydrogenation. Benzofuran and 2-methylbenzofuran are protonated in the 3 position of the heterocyclic ring, whereas 3-methylbenzofuran is protonated in the 2 position.
